English As A Second Language (ESL)

First Baptist Prattville offers many opportunities for non-English speaking students to practice English. Below are a list of options. If you have questions, please contact Larry Jenkins.

ESL Sunday School

Sundays, 9:30-10:45am

Room 201

ESL Sunday School is a Bible study class taught at an ESL level. Students will practice vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar and conversation. There will be activities for children of all ages at the same time as this class. After Sunday School, join the 11:00am worship where you will have another opportunity for listening practice.

Wednesdays, 9:30-10:30am 

AE Hallway, Room 100

This class introduces students to American culture, history and government. It is designed to be an introduction to local customs, holidays and geography, as well as prepare for citizenship interviews when appropriate. 

Learn English Through the Bible

Wednesdays, 10:30-11:30am

AE Hallway, Room 100

Using the Bible as a textbook, students will learn vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar and practice conversational skills.

English Classes by Levels

Thursdays, 9:30-11:30am and 6:30-8:00pm

Fellowship Hall

Students are divided into classes by level. Classes are typically no larger than 15 students. The focus of the classes are conversational English. Additional activities throughout the year are also available such as craft days, family parties and field trips.

Classes are always free. We ask for a $30 yearly donation to help cover the cost of materials. Childcare is provided for Wednesday and Thursday classes upon registration.
